For the past 30 years, Doug has worked as an actor
on stage, on television, in radio and in film. He has appeared in
theatres across Canada and in the U.S., and has spent a total of
15 seasons at the Shaw and Stratford festivals. His most recent
season at Stratford included roles in "Macbeth" and "Cyrano
de Bergerac". In 2008, he received a Dora nomination for his
portrayal of Alfie Byrne in Acting UpStage's production of "A
Man of No Importance". Other recent credits include "My
Fair Lady" at Huron Country Playhouse (where he played Henry
Higgins), "It's a Wonderful Life" at CanStage, and "The
Drowsy Chaperone at the Manitoba Theatre Centre. Doug began writing
in 1991 when he teamed up with Marcia to pen "Who's Under Where?"
As well as collaborating with Marcia on "A Party to Murder"
and "Too Many Cooks", Doug is now working with her and
composer Jonathan Monro on a musical, "A Scandal in Bohemia".
He has also written three screenplays - "Hearing Trouble",
"Star Struck" and "A Different Corner". He makes
his home in Toronto.
